Dogwood...I think?

I'm thinking that these are dogwood, but not positive. They're all over the grounds at my apartment. They were a lot healthier last year. I wonder if they weren't very well taken care of this year. They look kind of sickly. ANYWAY! I found a few really pretty ones. I love spring.
Oh...by the way, it's 81 degrees today and I'M LOVING IT!

Say Cheese? NEVER!

This is one of the rare smiles AVJ gives me. Ya know...one of those silly, unforced, very sweet smiles instead of those forced smiles with squinted eyes that are all teeth and gums? I have to be really sneaky to get ones like this. :) I have learned to NEVER, AND I MEAN NEVER, tell kids, "Say cheeeeese!" Even just telling them to smile can make for a goofy cheeser gin (I guess it's ok if that's what you're looking for though.):)

Party Saturday = Messy Monday

My Big girl, AVJ, just turned 4 and we had a little B-day party for her with a few of her friends. I decided to get brave and make fondant(the marshmallow variety). It turned out to be really cute, but SEVERELY underestimated the messy, ooeey, gooey-ness of it all. I didn't even use it on the whole cake! ANYWAY, here are some not that great pictures. (procrastination+bad lighting= bad pictures)

I guess first there were the invitations. They're pretty darn cute, if I do say so my self!

AVJ wanted a Princess and the Frog party, so that's mostly what she got!

I tried to find those cute little Haribo frogs to put in these dirt/swamp cups and cupcakes, but couldn't find them in any of the stores. I guess I could've order some online, but then I would have tiny gummy froggies coming out the ears! I settled for a lily pad with lotus flower. I did an extra big pad and flower on AVJ's personal cake.

Oh yeah...and I made that cute little(or should I say...WAY TOO BIG) princess hat too. All in all everything was cute and yummy and fun was had by all. ( at least I hope so anyway!)

Now go check out some other messy projects a the Pumpkin Patch!

Steogers vs. EL GRAPADURA!

OK...So my parents and brothers might be the only ones to get a kick out of my title, but I had to do it. This ones for you Zach!
Over the last little while Spencer and I (mostly Spence) have been preparing our kitchen/dining room to have hardwood floor installed. The vinyl floor was glued to a bunch of fiber boards that were stapled to the sub-floor.
Oh, by the way, see those yellow squares on the wall? Can you guess which one I'm using on the room?

And can I just say...STAPLE GUN OVERKILL!!! I think whoever installed the floor got a little carried away. I seriously think there's a minimum of 10 staples per square foot in there. At roughly 450 sq ft, I'll let you do the math. Not fun! But, we've really been enjoying our time with each other, and it's nice to know we're having a hand in making this house our home. I can't wait to paint together
ANYway, we spent a good chunk of two nights pulling those staples out one by one, just me, Spence, gloves, and pliers. Needless to say, our hands were very tired and sore. The worse part is, WE STILL AREN'T DONE YET!!
There's still just under half of the room that needs them pulled out. :( See where that shopvac is? That's as far as we got. We still have practically the whole dining area to do. We thought maybe we'd just hammer them in, but we don't want them to work their way back up and cause problems later with our nice hardwood.
I think this will make it all the more satisfying once we have it all finished. I can just see it now :)

swing swing

This was such sweet little moment for me. Rosie Cheeks is getting so big. I wish I could capture moments like this of AVJ. She moves so much faster than her little sister, so it's hard to capture much but a blur as she whizzes by.

I Heart Warm Weather

We bought a house and guess what? IT HAS A HUGE PLAYSET! We went to the house to hang out this weekend and the girls were in heaven (and...so was I because it was like 75 degrees the whole time!). Thinking back, I totally should've taken a picture of the the whole playset, but all I did was take pictures of the girls on the swings. DOH! Anyway, I got some really cute ones of my little Rosie Cheeks, but AVJ always seems to look away from the camera when she sees it or...she'll stick her foot up in the air and give me a shot of her undies! GRRR! So, there will be NO undies shots for the blogging world to see, so you get what you get!
Over the next couple of months, we'll be renovating our house a little and I'll post some Before/After pics. I AM SO EXCITED. This is our first very own house and I'm so excited to make it ours.

He Lives

I didn't have time to post this weekend. We hung out at our new house the whole time. Yesterday morning, when the girls woke up, we went into the empty office and closed the door. Spence whipped out a picture of the Savior and proceeded to tell AVJ about why we celebrate Easter. We bore our testimonies to her that Jesus suffered and died for us because he loves us, and that HE LIVES. Then we hung up our picture of Jesus in our new home and dedicated it so that our home would be a place of peace, a shelter from the world, and a place for the spirit to dwell.
HAPPY EASTER!
MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF THE MUSIC AT THE BOTTOM SO YOU CAN HEAR THE MOVIE!
PLEASE, do not use any of the pictures on this blog with out my permission. Thank you!
