Steogers vs. EL GRAPADURA!

OK...So my parents and brothers might be the only ones to get a kick out of my title, but I had to do it. This ones for you Zach!
Over the last little while Spencer and I (mostly Spence) have been preparing our kitchen/dining room to have hardwood floor installed. The vinyl floor was glued to a bunch of fiber boards that were stapled to the sub-floor.
Oh, by the way, see those yellow squares on the wall? Can you guess which one I'm using on the room?

And can I just say...STAPLE GUN OVERKILL!!! I think whoever installed the floor got a little carried away. I seriously think there's a minimum of 10 staples per square foot in there. At roughly 450 sq ft, I'll let you do the math. Not fun! But, we've really been enjoying our time with each other, and it's nice to know we're having a hand in making this house our home. I can't wait to paint together
ANYway, we spent a good chunk of two nights pulling those staples out one by one, just me, Spence, gloves, and pliers. Needless to say, our hands were very tired and sore. The worse part is, WE STILL AREN'T DONE YET!!
There's still just under half of the room that needs them pulled out. :( See where that shopvac is? That's as far as we got. We still have practically the whole dining area to do. We thought maybe we'd just hammer them in, but we don't want them to work their way back up and cause problems later with our nice hardwood.
I think this will make it all the more satisfying once we have it all finished. I can just see it now :)

Left in August

Welcome to my photo blog! I got to thinking, that I'm a little crafty, but I'm more artistic than crafty. This is why I am redoing my blog. I love to draw, paint, scrapbook, and sew, but with kids, its nearly impossible to do on a regular basis! Just too much mess and not enough time! I've always liked taking pictures, but never really got into it, until recently. I find my self drawn to it because I can capture exactly what I'm picturing in my minds eye, and I can capture exactly what I'm looking at. The perfectionist in me finds this delightful! There's no need for erasing and redrawing, scraping off and repainting, unpicking and restitching, etc. I love it! Who doesn't have time to take pictures?! It only takes a couple of second, and the editing is clean and easy. No mess! (I'm sure Spencer especially loves that part) It has been such a good creative outlet for me.

I left in August and started a new life together with my husband, and that is why I am titling my blog LEFT IN AUGUST. (also, my brother has an album called Lost in September and I thought it kind of fit with his name.) I was married in August. I left UT with my husband and little girl for grad school at Purdue in August. August is a significant month for me. I am a sun worshipper, and when is the sun the hottest? August! I love the summer time. Flowers, blue skies, green grass, bright colors, shorts, flip flops, swimming. It's just so happy! Sit back, relax, and enjoy! And, leave me a comment...if ya feel like it.
PLEASE, do not use any of the pictures on this blog with out my permission. Thank you!
