Feelin Crafty!

Well, I hope everybody had an awesome Easter! I think it's my favorite holiday. There isn't so much commercialism it destroys the real meaning of the holiday. I'm so grateful for my Savior and his Atonement!
Anyway, my cousin sent my girls THE CUTEST little crocheted teddy bears! The girls love their bears so much, they take them everywhere they go. You can see one here in the picture below.

Well...I wanted to make my own because they were just so stinkin cute! My cousin told me about the free pattern found HERE. I decided to try making a bunny for one of my daughters friend's birthday. I have to say...
I think it turned out great, but I'll let you be the judge ;)

Check out this Cuteness!

Learned how to crochet and made this adorable hat in one day! That's got to be some sort of record right? Isn't this so cute?! Too bad she doesn't want to wear it. Too bad my heads too big...what a waste :(

A Couple of Things I've Been Working On...

My NEW old work-out shirt...

It was plain and black and blah, so I spiced it up with some words of wisdom from good ole Lance Armstrong!

And I made this cute little out fit for a baby shower gift.
I also made a cute little monogram burpcloth out of a cloth diaper, but I didn't take a picture...woopsies!
Oh and in case you're wondering...I made that cute little hat with a knitting loom. Easy Peasy!
And...you just never mind the cruddy photos because I ran out of daylight and had to use my flash!

She Thinks Like Her Mother

This morning AVJ asked me if I would take the flower off her badge. I told her no because it was a cute flower badge now. She got all grouchy about it, but then she used her little imagination and made something she really likes now.
Maybe she should start her own blog...ha ha

upcycle t-shirt dress

(it's the one on the left...i'll let Target take credit for the grey one)

Well...truth be told, I didn't actually use an old shirt. I bought one at Dollar Tree and one at Walgreens for $2.50. But you could totally do this with an old t-shirt hangin out in the closet.
At first, I tried to make a one piece dress out of the pink shirt I bought at Walgreen's. I goofed up the neck and arm holes (that's what I get for trying to free hand it!). The neck was WAAAYYY to big and the arm holes were just barely to small. So...I chopped the top off and started over. I grabbed a black shirt I snagged and the dollar store and traced a tank top, sewed it all together and topped it off with some cute flowers. Anyway, here' s the finished project. Getting this picture was like getting teeth pulled...for all three of us. I'm just glad I caught a smile!

Cute Hair Thingy+Pretty Little Girl+Bubbles=

A very sweet photo...
I've seen tutorials on how to make these puffy little flower thingies a few times, but I've never attempted it. I found the perfect fabric in my donated scrap pile and decided to make a cute little head band. AVJ loves it. She's such a princess. :)

A is for Adorable

I had these cute little frames hanging that I didn't really know what to do with (bought at Target 3 of them for like $2). They were black and didn't really go with anything I've been wanting to do in our new house. So, I gave them a makeover. Some sanding, white paint, and distressing later...
I got rid of the glass, and added a cute piece of scrap paper, the letter, and some fabric flowers.
What do you think? I'm putting this one in AVJ's room. I made another one for Rosie Cheeks room too. That yellow color in the background is AVJ's room, and with in this little frame is the color scheme I'm going for. This is my first time decorating well...really...ANYTHING! I pretty much have had no idea what I was going for. But, now I do and I can't wait to get things going! (I'm super sick of empty walls and rooms!)

a cute little project

For the 4th-ish I decided to make some little halter pillowcase dresses for my girls. I know I made them, but can I just say...ADORABLE! I need to put an elastic in the back of the smaller one because it was a bit gappy on my little Rosie Cheeks.

little ladybug for a little lady

Look at this cute little buggy! Well...cute little buggies. I made it a little while ago, but nobody has worn it yet. It just kind of disappeared. Anyway, it's out and it's wonderful isn't it?

$6 solution to a $16 dilemma

so, my 4 year old seems to want jewels on EVERYTHING! It's not beautiful if it doesn't have at least ONE jewel! We went to Target a couple of days ago and she wanted some awful sandles with golden seahorse (sorry if you've purchased them...just not my taste!) and some other flip flops (cuter ones with flowers and jewels). They were right around $16.

Old Navy to the rescue, 2 for $5 flip flops and Joann has little jewels for about $3. A pare o' flip flops, some jewels, and some glue later, we have these. She may not like them better than the ones at Target, but I think they'll keep her from asking for them OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

oh...just a few things i'm excited about

First of all...I just got done painting 3 rooms a lovely shade of yellow. 3 down, only 6 more...to...go :(. That's ok. That'll be 4 yellow(Sherwin Williams Solaris) rooms, 3 blue(Sherwin Williams Bathe Blue) rooms, and two gray(Sherwin Williams Fawn Brindle) rooms. All these late hours and paint fumes will amount to a lovely home that we can make ours! Hopefully I don't loose too many brain cells in the process! Note to self: DO NOT press firmly on top of the paint can lid...IT'S PLASTIC AND WILL BEND!
Next up, I found this lovely, art deco-ish fabric at Joanne with my Easter dress money. I couldn't find a single dress that I liked(or at least one that was modest enough that I liked). So, I went fabric shopping and this is what I found. I think it might get done before next Easter...at the rate I'm going! I'm still excited about it!
I bought two king sized flat sheets, and I plan to make a new duvet cover for our newly yellow room. We painted our dressers a lovely chocolate brown and put new hardware on them. We've had them since we were kids, and brought them together when we were married...6 years later they finally match. I'm so excited to put everything together and get some decorating going.
I've posted it before, but I'm REALLY going to finish my Hawaiian quilt and hang it up or something.

Made these cute little canvases for the Grandmas for Mother's Day...I'm...um...excited to send them one day :). I'll hopefully get hem off this week. I'm so terrible...over a week late! But, still cute as ever! For the tutorial on how to make these cute little gifts go to The DIY Dish.

I bought a bunch of flowers to put in at our house. The previous owners didn't do...well...ANYTHING! They had somebody come in and landscape it, but then didn't really take care of it, let alone plant any type of flowers. I'm really excited to make it mine. I got strawberries, jewel box celiosa, dahlias, echinacea (coneflowers), alyssum, and dianthus. I think if I get any money for my birthday I'll probably spend some on flowers....unless I find a china cabinet that's calling my name!

Party Saturday = Messy Monday

My Big girl, AVJ, just turned 4 and we had a little B-day party for her with a few of her friends. I decided to get brave and make fondant(the marshmallow variety). It turned out to be really cute, but SEVERELY underestimated the messy, ooeey, gooey-ness of it all. I didn't even use it on the whole cake! ANYWAY, here are some not that great pictures. (procrastination+bad lighting= bad pictures)

I guess first there were the invitations. They're pretty darn cute, if I do say so my self!

AVJ wanted a Princess and the Frog party, so that's mostly what she got!

I tried to find those cute little Haribo frogs to put in these dirt/swamp cups and cupcakes, but couldn't find them in any of the stores. I guess I could've order some online, but then I would have tiny gummy froggies coming out the ears! I settled for a lily pad with lotus flower. I did an extra big pad and flower on AVJ's personal cake.

Oh yeah...and I made that cute little(or should I say...WAY TOO BIG) princess hat too. All in all everything was cute and yummy and fun was had by all. ( at least I hope so anyway!)

Now go check out some other messy projects a the Pumpkin Patch!

So CUTE!

Lately my little AVJ has been a little HEADBAND crazy. Well...she's a little hair thing crazy lately(wearing 10 hair clips at the same at some point in the day), but especially headbands. Anyway, I found this lady's SUPER CUTE headbands and a tutorial. I'm trying it TODAY! It's gonna be so cute with my girls Easter Dresses.

...sorry for the lack of pictures. They will be here tomorrow. :)

TULLE WILL BURN...and so will your fingers if you aren't careful!

OH! Look at these little pretties! I got the idea here at The DIY Dish. I personally think the people on Studio 5 are just a touch annoying, but they always have cute stuff on their show. Anyway, there are two different flowers on the video, but the part where they show you these kind of flowers is toward the end of the video. I thought it was such a cute flower and it'd be way cute for a hair clip. I used a candle, some tulle, a jewel, and a little matching felt for the back. They were SUPER QUICK AND EASY! I did manage to burn a big whole in the middle of one of my flowers on accident and I burnt my fingernail...oh well what do I need a fingernail for anyway? Its hard to pay attention with 2 crazy girls running around. Maybe I should do this kind of stuff at night?

a good luck kiss

So, I went JoAnn yesterday. Just looking for nothing in particular. I found these funny little lip buttons and knew I had to put them on a little felt shamrock. But, I didn't make it big enough to put a hair clip on the back and...I felt like it needed a little something else. So, I went to Target this morning and saw some rainbow socks for $1, cut them up and made a yo-yo to put on the back. Pay no attention to the quality of the picture..I had to go where the light was. What do you think?

The Orange Orchid

Orange orchids represent enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation. I should say so! I'm sorry to say that I started this stinkin project almost a year ago! I've been to Hawaii a few times in the last couple years, and I kept seeing all the beautiful Hawaiian Style Quilts(for some examples of the real deal click HERE). I REALLY wanted one, but the good ones in a queen size are over $2k! I thought...I could do one all by myself! It'll be a cinch! Ha Ha! Well, the actual sewing is really easy. It just TAKES FOREVER! All you do is make a little design (like a giant paper snowflake), and then do a blind stitch all the way around every edge! PIECE A CAKE! I figure if I write it down, I'll just have to finish it! So, soon if will be finished, and it'll be marvelous!

Look What I Made!

I've been feeling a little crafty lately, but haven't found the time to do anything about it until yesterday. I made this cute little skirt for AVJ. All she wanted to do was dance around. I couldn't just get a cute, sweet, picture, cause she wanted to rock out the whole time. I'm making another one to match for my little Rosie Cheeks. They're gonna look SOO cute together!
PLEASE, do not use any of the pictures on this blog with out my permission. Thank you!
