Out in the Sticks

We went on a little road trip last week. My Brother-in-law and his family came out from Utah and we met them in Nauvoo, IL. For those who don't know anything about Nauvoo, it's a town that was settled by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and named by Joseph Smith. On the drive out there...ahh...beautiful rolling corn /soy bean fields of the midwest.

Walking through historic Nauvoo. This is next to the black smith where they keep the oxen and the horses. I just had to stop and snap a few.

This is the Nauvoo Temple. Isn't it so beautiful. And, dare I say even more stunning inside! This is one of my most favorite temples.

New Do

So, I've gotten quite sick of not having a cute picture of myself (and I'm not saying I'm totally satisfied with this one, but it'll do for now). I convinced my little AVJ to help me out. I showed her how to use the auto focus, put the camera on the tripod and let her go. We had a couple interesting ones...but she did a good job. You just never mind that wierd pose; it's hard when there's no one giving directions!
I've always REALLY straight hair. And...I'm sure this really cute do will only last for a maximum of 3 hours because of that, but it was cute while it lasted right? I've never really attempted to do much on my hair, but I got brave when I saw an easy how to on this blog. It's my new favorite blog.

Cute Hair Thingy+Pretty Little Girl+Bubbles=

A very sweet photo...
I've seen tutorials on how to make these puffy little flower thingies a few times, but I've never attempted it. I found the perfect fabric in my donated scrap pile and decided to make a cute little head band. AVJ loves it. She's such a princess. :)

A is for Adorable

I had these cute little frames hanging that I didn't really know what to do with (bought at Target 3 of them for like $2). They were black and didn't really go with anything I've been wanting to do in our new house. So, I gave them a makeover. Some sanding, white paint, and distressing later...
I got rid of the glass, and added a cute piece of scrap paper, the letter, and some fabric flowers.
What do you think? I'm putting this one in AVJ's room. I made another one for Rosie Cheeks room too. That yellow color in the background is AVJ's room, and with in this little frame is the color scheme I'm going for. This is my first time decorating well...really...ANYTHING! I pretty much have had no idea what I was going for. But, now I do and I can't wait to get things going! (I'm super sick of empty walls and rooms!)

all of a sudden she's big.

I looked at her the other day. She was wearing all manner of head bands and plastic jewelry. She asked me, "Mom, do I look fancy?" I said "Yes, sweet heart you're exquisite." and suddenly I realized, SHE'S BIG NOW!

a cute little project

For the 4th-ish I decided to make some little halter pillowcase dresses for my girls. I know I made them, but can I just say...ADORABLE! I need to put an elastic in the back of the smaller one because it was a bit gappy on my little Rosie Cheeks.
