Here's my fix
So...at I Y Faces they are doing a constructive feedback day and I want in on it! I missed out last time because I didn't realize there were only 40 people allowed!
Anyway, I really love this photo. And, while I can take a decent picture, and "fix" it in Photoshop Elements 7, I really don't know what to do with the camera to make it so I don't have to "fix" it if I don't want to.
What are your thoughts? Let me have it!
*forgot to mention what bugs me...the pictures seems to ...I don't know, have a little bit of a purple to it. also, i like photos that are really bright and clear how do I get that look? Do I need to just break down and go get a better lens?*

Other than being on the tad bit warm side (which is total personal preference), I think this is a precious photo! Great job!!
My only suggestion is to maybe make the colors pop a little more??
Here's how:
1. Duplicate layer
2. Filter - Other - High Pass (mess with your levels, try to stay around 5ish) You want it to look grey
3. Choose Vivid Light in the layers box (where you see the word Normal).
Hope I explained that so you can understand. You can also choose overlay, hard light and soft light to give different effects. Play around with it.
I downloaded the original from Flickr and here is my edit using the information from the last post.
Hope it helps to see it visually.

First of all, WHAT A CUTIE! I mean seriosuly!!
The one thing that jumps out at me with this photo is the limb chop. Her right foot is completly chopped - ugh! Can't be fixed!
I'm glad when you cropped it, you put her eyes back in the upper third of the frame - much better. Also, you seem to have added more light to her face and sharpened the eyes [maybe a touch too much, but not overkill]. If you can, try cropping so you don't see the chopped limb. That might salvage this shot. There is a bit of a color issue with her skin [in the original] but I'm not on a calibrated monitor so I can't really get specific.
Can I just say again, WHAT A CUTIE?!?!
I actually really like your edit! I saw two things in there I would edit.. and I agree with the previosu comment about making it pop just a little mroe...
I would adjust the crop slightly .. the photo seems a littel wide... and also.. are you using a vignetting? The childs skintone on the bottom leg appears a bit dark compared to teh rest of the skin.. can you possibly mask this corner off or fade the vignetting a little?
Thank you so much ladies for your insight! I didn't even think about her foot being chopped off! I'm glad you mentioned it. I guess I need to pay better attention when I'm shooting! I'll try to tone down the face just a touch too.
Yes...I did use a vignette, and normally I catch the skin tone problem and mask it out, but I missed it with this one...so thanks for pointing it out!
I am personally totally in love with this picture! I agree there is a little white balance issue, but not a major one, and I don't think the limb-chop is such a big deal. If you had zoomed out to get that foot, you loose that close, personal feeling, so chopping off limbs for me is not a big deal. If I notice it while shooting, maybe pull her foot in closer but don't zoom out! The catchlights and detail you caught in her eyes is outstanding! Great job!
I dont have any feedback except to add that I love the photo..and her pensive look! She is precious!
Adorable photo! The foot being cut off doesn't bother me either. I like your edit but think maybe just a bit more color pop would do it. And I wouldn't use the vignetting.
I really like your edit! Great job on the eyes. :)
I would make minor adjustments and that's because I'm fussy. :P
1) I agree with more color pop!
2) Lose the vignette. I like how bright and cheery this photo is. The vignette doesn't add to the brightness or help draw my eye in. She does that well enough on her own. :)
3) I limb chop doesn't really distract my eye but of course, better comp could have been made by including the leg in full she has curled up on the chair and her right foot.
4) I don't know why I notice these things but I would do some healing on the crust in her nose and the splotchies on her leg. I don't make it a point to look up little ones noses but if it's there to see, I will. lol
Like I said, just minor things that I personally would change but that's just how my eye sees it. I think you did a really wonderful job. She's gorgeous. :)
You already know 1000 times more than me when it comes to photos, so I have nothing helpful to add. All I can say is that I think she is adorable and I can see great improvement in your pics and edits from the very first ones to now. I think you definitely have an eye for this.
